Made in America?

This is obviously a hot topic, one I’ve been following closely since the 1990s. I could dive deep into the subject, but instead, I want to encourage everyone to watch this video to begin understanding the real challenges that American manufacturing is facing, and will continue to face.
For years, I’ve believed the U.S. government should establish a Department of National Economic Security (DNES). Its mission would be to monitor the structure of our economy and assess how it impacts national security. To me, economic security is national security, and I’ll die on that hill.
While I don’t support blanket tariffs, I do believe in giving U.S. manufacturers a temporary competitive edge through targeted tariffs and other measures, paired with subsidies and financial incentives. This approach can help us foster and grow domestic industrial capabilities that we would otherwise lose in a global economy driven solely by bottom-line considerations.
In America, our corporate laws prioritize profit above all else. Without strategic subsidies and incentives, we simply won’t be able to build even a minimum industrial base needed to achieve national economic security. This is only my opinion. Let me know what you think.
