The Challenges of Space-Based Data Centers

I wrote a document titled “Why Space-Based Data Centers Do Not Scale.”

It seems to me that many people are blindly following this idea without giving serious thought to whether it is actually viable or, if it is, why it would make sense.

It took only seconds for me to recognize that a concept like this would face major obstacles that are not easy to overcome.

While Elon Musk and other tech leaders are promoting the idea, very few are questioning whether it is a practical solution to the real challenges faced by large, terrestrial AI data centers today.

That is what my article addresses. Personally, I do not see how large space-based AI data centers could ever be a practical solution. I believe this is the latest tech catchphrase and, in many ways, a scam.
