SFE Generation 2

The device shown in the image is an example of what we refer to as a 2nd generation or Gen 2 device. These devices marked a breakthrough in our understanding of the phenomenon, but were still limited in very similar ways to what we observed in Gen 1.

 

So, there was a need for further progress. Still Gen 2 looked very promising and was definitely moving the technology forward.
